Items of Special Interest:

1 - The challenge of the Frozen Plains is to find the items laying on the ground. The creatures you meet the first time through are called Polaris and are blue men with birds feet and wings. They like the cold and to share it with you. While they are here, the Valley of Garan is not accessible to you. The gold they drop is the easiest thing to find on the frozen ground. The light arrows and moonstones lying around are next to impossible to see. You will have to set up a search pattern and get lucky. On the first trip through here, be sure to talk with Lyn in her house and get her key, and also (if your HP is high enough!) to get the Ryu-Ga sword. You will have to survive a fall over a cliff to get it. Be careful when you go over though. If you look down while falling, the game thinks you are diving headfirst. Think about it………

2 - The second time through here (if you have talked to Lyn) you will find an entirely different set of creatures, called Garan Lizards and Garan Tesses. They are harder to kill than the Polaris'. Once you see these creatures, you will know that the path to the Valley of Garan is open. The Garan Tesses will strike the ground with their hammers and create shockwaves which hit you from afar. Be very careful.

3 - Down in the bottom of the big pit is a piece of Promeus. To get out of the pit, face one side of the pit head on and run. Keep running. Soon you will make it up over the side.

4 - There are two regions you can go to from here, the Valley of Garan (necessary for the Key of Ichrius to be made) and the Passage of Death. I recommend visiting the Valley of Garan first and saving the Passage of Death for later for two reasons. First, the Valley of Garan has the third item of Ichrius (the Crown) and the last 2 pieces of Promeus. A full suit of Promeus armor is very desirable to go through the Passage of Death. Second, the Key of Ichrius should be your first priority, especially if the Excellector has grown to level 3 (26,000 xp). With the three items of Ichrius and the Excellector at level 3, the Key of Ichrius can be made. With the key made, you can go EVERYWHERE in Verdite and you can also access the Power of Orladin and boost your Light power to dizzying heights.
